Being a great physician is more than just being able to diagnose and treat medical problems. Although he graduated first in his medical school class, was named chief resident during his dermatology residency, and has been recognized by Louisiana Life Magazine as a Top Doctor, he understands that it is not good enough to treat the rash or the skin cancer; you must treat the person.
Dr. Massengale enjoys the relationships that he has made with his patients and their families. From childhood to adulthood, Dr. Massengale wants to care for your dermatologic needs.
Dr. Massengale is a clinical professor of dermatology with the LSU healthcare system. He has helped train many of the dermatologists who now practice in our state. This commitment to education carries over into his private practice where he spends extra time with patients to explain to them the nature of their condition and why they are using the medications prescribed.
He believes at tracing a problem back to its source and treating it instead of just treating the symptoms. He views the skin as a window to what is going on inside someone. It is not uncommon for a patient to present with a problem such as acne in an adult and be diagnosed with a hormonal problem that they were unaware of.
He
is a published author in dermatology and is a strong advocate for patient safety in the field
of dermatology.
