Dr. Joshua Pitre was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana. He received a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University and attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Pitre excelled during medical school, receiving research distinction honors and graduating first in his class. He then went on to complete an Internal Medicine internship at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and a Dermatology residency at Louisiana State University, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year of training.
Dr. Pitre’s clinical interests include pigmented lesions (moles and melanoma), contact dermatitis (rashes due to external agents), and managing chronic inflammatory conditions (including psoriasis, eczema, and acne). He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Contact Dermatitis Society, and the Louisiana Dermatologic Society.
Outside of his clinical duties, Dr. Pitre is involved in a variety of activities within the community. He supervises LSU Dermatology residents at their Baton Rouge clinic location and serves as an alumni advisor for the Phi Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity. In addition, he enjoys outdoor activities, attending LSU sporting events, and spending time with his wife, Rachel, and two children, Jacob and Ryan.
